You know how if you go to Tokyo and just take pictures, your memories will be hazy later?
So this time, I tried to exercise a bit, thinking, “The only thing you’ll have left is the experience!”
Listen to some stories about how I really enjoyed myself and lost track of time.
I recently visited Shibuya Sky, which is said to be the hottest spot in Tokyo. Wow… you really have to go there.
You take the escalator to the rooftop, and suddenly the sky opens up and the whole of Tokyo spreads out before your feet.
Even I, who has a fear of heights, thought, “Oh my gosh, I’m going to die,” but then I forgot all about it as I gazed at the pink sunset and sparkling nightscape.
But everyone, don’t go here with your hair styled too fancy.
The wind is so strong that it’ll make your hair messy in photos. 😂
But you can’t give up on that incredible shot from the glass edge.
Reservations are required a month in advance, so make sure to book as soon as you plan your trip!
“Have you ever tried riding a rickshaw, feeling like you’re being treated like royalty in the heart of the city?”
If you go to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, there are so many handsome, male, and female rickshaw drivers.
At first, I was like, “How can I ride one of those embarrassing?” But the moment I hopped on, my mind changed.
First of all, the high vantage point allowed me to capture beautiful scenery in the alleys I hadn’t seen while walking.
More importantly, these guys are photographers.
They said, “You’ll get great shots from here!” and took dozens of photos with my phone. I was so touched by their kindness that I couldn’t help but tip them.
It was the best gift for my tired legs.
You don’t need a reservation; just make eye contact and you can ride right away, so if you get the chance, definitely try it!
“You’re in a museum, so you have to take off your socks? The shock of teamLab Planets.”
This is truly a strange place.
As soon as you enter, you take off your shoes and socks and enter the exhibition barefoot. You walk in knee-deep water and lie down in a room filled with flowers.
At first, I was worried, “Will it smell fishy?” But wait, it was amazing. Fish were swimming in the water, and I screamed as they dodged with every step.
There’s even a room lined with mirrors, and being there makes you feel like you’re floating in space.
Oh! Since the floor is all mirrors, it might be a little embarrassing to wear a skirt, so don’t forget to wear pants. (They do lend you shorts, of course!)
Everyone, just walking around Tokyo is great, but you know how experiencing things with your own body and mind really elevates the experience?
As I sort through my photo album, I’m reminded of that air, that thrill, and it makes me want to book another plane ticket.
